Bonjour Y4, smiley

I hope that your week has started well.

If you would like to practise French, this is a great website to help with that. https://www.duolingo.com/

It is also on the class page.

Have a lovely day.

With much love,

Miss Ilenda

Good morning Y4,smiley

Welcome back. Did you have a good rest? Did you enjoy the little plant spotting activity?

This morning I said this prayer which you can also say:

Dear Father God,

I praise you for being

all powerful and for being love.

Thank you for sending your Holy Spirit

to comfort us by reminding us of this truth.

Because this is the day you have made,

help me to be glad and rejoice in it.

In Jesus' name,

Amen

I look forward to seeing later on in our video call.

With much love,

Miss Ilenda smiley

Hi Y4, smiley

Happy half-term. I hope that you are able to safely spend some time walking in nature.

I have prepared an activity for you which you can do outdoors.

Take a look and enjoy!

Good morning year 4, smiley

Have you enjoyed the Geography lessons on BBC Bitesize?

There are other lessons to explore there which you are able to do, if you are interested.

I hope it is a wonderful day for you.

Good morning Y4, smiley

Finally, today you will get to start planning your stories. I hope that the pictures are inspiring.

In the mornings some of us will pray about ourselves and we could also pray for our friends. We could pray this prayer:

A Prayer for My Friend

God, Thank You for my friend.

You tell us that it is not good to be alone, God,

and bless us with family and friends all around us.

Thank You for giving us people to talk to and laugh with.

I pray for my friend today, that they have a good day and a blessed life.

They are a blessing to me, God, when I need them the most.

Help me to be kind like Jesus.

To be a good friend to others and spread His love.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Have a lovely day,

With much love,

Miss Ilenda

Good morning Y4, smiley

Did you have a good weekend? I hope you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and that I am proud of you for the way you have continued with your work.

This is a prayer I said this morning from a reading in the book of Psalm, Chapter 86, verse 11, which you can also say.

See you later on, on our video call.

With much love,

Miss Ilenda

Good morning everyone, smiley

Have you enjoyed making props and coming up with actions to help you perform your poems today?

I do hope that this is an experience that helps you grow as well as being entertaining for your family! laugh

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss Ilenda

Good morning everyone, smiley

Well done for your work so far. Have fun today. But not like this dog. This is too much fun!

But if it is a challenging day, (everyone has these every now and then), here is a prayer we can pray when we want a bit of help. Also remember to ask me any questions in the class Question Box.

A prayer for help

Dear God,

Sometimes I don’t feel like talking about what’s wrong.

I just want to be mad or sad or frustrated.

I would rather sit by myself.

Sometimes, things feel too big for me to figure out.

Sometimes, life seems really unfair.

I need Your help, God.

You are the only One who sees everything and knows everything.

You are the only One who knows everything about me.

Can You help me to trust You, today?

Please teach me how to take what I feel and give it to You to sort out.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

With much love,

Miss Ilenda

Good morning everyone, smiley

I hope that your week is going well.

The poem today is full of so much detail that you could make props for which will help you perform it.

So have fun.

With much love,

Miss Ilenda

Good morning everyone, smiley

It was lovely to virtually see everyone yesterday and I look to doing the same on Monday.

I am so proud of you for your effort towards online learning.

I hope that you all have a book that you are enjoying! I am happily, still reading Ivanhoe.

This is a prayer for when I am thankful and which you can also pray:

God, thank You for this day!

Thank You for the birds and the animals,

the flowers and the trees,

the lakes and the streams,

and the sun that rises and sets over them each day.

Thank You for creating everything we see!

Thank You for the life we live, and for making each person different.

Thank You for Jesus, who died for us so that we can

go to heaven one day just for believing in Him.

What an amazing God You are!

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

With much love,

Miss Ilenda

Good morning Year 4, smiley

Tomorrow we celebrate V.E Day (Victory for Europe Day, May 8th 1945). It is a day celebrating the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Nazi Germany's unconditional surrender of its armed forces on Tuesday, 8 May 1945.

To help you think about this and to celebrate, I have attached the document 'English Heritage Party Pack,' to the class page.

This gives you:

-recipes for tasty 1940's dishes to serve your family,

-a VE Day poster to spread the word about your dinner party, (you could skype, facetime or zoom friends and family to celebrate at the same  time,

-lyrics to popular 1940s songs,

-tips for dancing the Lindy hop swing.

(From www.historyanswers.co.uk/)

Have fun.

It was lovely virtually seeing you all yesterday! laugh

For maths, please complete the blue sheet this week and the green sheet next week.

Thank you.

Good morning year 4, smiley

This week, you will get a chance to read poetry.

You will memorise a poem, practise it using different bodily expressions and props (remember Michael Rosen!).

You will use these when you recite and perform your poem.

Let us kick off our week by being hopeful:

'Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer,'

Romans 12:12.

Have a great week.

With much love,

Miss Ilenda

If you happen to be in a poetry reading mood today, have a look at this one about the month of May.

Oh! fragrant is the breath of May
In tranquil garden closes,
And soft yet regal is her sway
Among the springtide roses.

Ciao!

(Hello in Italian)

Today I want to say that I am pleased with every single one of you for every effort you have made so far and will make today. You are doing really well! Keep going laugh

Hi year 4,

I have learned that some of  you are  having trouble accessing Mathletics to do the extra work on Decimals.

I have uploaded in to the Week 6 folder, more work on Decimals. So please use this if you can not access Mathletics.

Good luck.

Miss Ilenda

Good morning year 4, smiley

I hope that your weekend was refreshing and that you are ready for today.

It is likely to rain for a while, so grab a book you enjoy. Children's books on Audible are free. Let me know how you are getting on.

You might also want to think about some comforting things your parents or carers tell you. In my morning reflection, I read these passages from the Bible:

Jeremiah chapter 17, verse 7, 'Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD.'

Isaiah chapter 43, verse 19 'I am making a way in the wilderness.'

To trust in the LORD means to believe that he can and will do what he said he will do.

What did God say he will do? The saying in Isaiah 43: 19 means God will find a solution to what is hard.

So this means that we can have peace when we believe that God will make things better, even when they are really hard.

So do have a peaceful day with lots and lots of reading for fun as well as your work!

With much love,

Miss Ilenda

P.S. I have finished listening to Heidi by Johanna Spyri. It was heart-warming and now I am reading Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott. So far, it is hilarious!

Good morning Y4! smiley

I hope that you are tying up loose ends today with your work.

I am sending you a virtual salute and a high-five for every effort!

Mrs Morris has asked you to consider, (and to discuss with others) this question:

If you dig up buried treasure, is it yours? surprise

I hope it tickles your brain and that you have a calm and relaxing weekend.

With much love,

Miss Ilenda

(Additional note)

Good afternoon Y4,

You might be working on your stories today based on Dawlish Dobson. You are free to take it where ever you want.

However, if you would like some pointers, I have added the document, 'Dawlish Dobson - Prequel,' to the folder Week 5.

I hope it helps.

As always, with much love,

Miss Ilenda smiley

Good morning Year 4, smiley

I hope that you are doing well.

I have added a link to a free ebook explaining the Corona Virus so that it's easy for you to understand.

Enjoy writing your stories today. Remember that you only need to pick one of the characters from the story yesterday and then write about their lives before the events of the story. Make it up.

Enjoy.

With much love,

Miss Ilenda

Good morning Y4! smiley

I hope that you are keeping up with the exercise at some point in the day even if it is not the first thing.

I have added a few links to websites providing you with different kinds of exercise, including dancing! laugh

For English today, remember to answer the questions provided to help you summarise what you have read.

This will help you in writing your back-story for one of the characters.

Have fun.

With much love,

Miss Ilenda

Good morning year 4! smiley

I hope your week has started well.

For the grammar today, you only need to do the first sheet. So if you find that you have time left in that English morning slot, you can begin reading the story for tomorrow to get ahead.

I have added a link to the Website Audible Stories. Here, you can listen to books being read in a dramatic way and sometimes with music. It is an enjoyable, additional way of hearing or encountering books. Many children's books are free.

Yesterday evening, as I cooked my dinner, I began listening to Heidi by Johanna  Spyri on Audible. Like many great stories, I encountered an experience I have never had,  and I was transported to a place I had never been, namely a childhood living in the Swiss mountains. As a child, I lived in the wet and warm tropical climate of Congo. And both of these experience are different to yours; living in the calmly-mild and temperate England with usually exciting big cities like London.

I hope you are transported by the books you read or have read to you. enlightened

With much love,

Miss Ilenda

Good morning Year 4! smiley

I hope you have had a lovely break. I know there must have been some days that were challenging but I hope you did make god memories, and you were able to grow from it. If not, today is a new day!

This week, the maths work is attached to the learning activities and not on Mathletics. However once you have completed your maths work, you can go on Mathletics or Purple Mash.

You are also going to be learning a bit about modern day or contemporary Italy to link in with our topic on Romans.

It's going to be fun!

With much love,

Miss Ilenda

Good morning year 4 and parents and carers,

Y4 - Easter is a good time to think about how our loved ones have treated us well and how it is time for us to treat them well even when it is hard. I know that when we are with our siblings and pets all the time, it can be a bit challenging - I have 5 siblings, so I know! laugh This is called GRACE - giving people the good that they do not deserve because we were given grace when we did not deserve it!

I hope that you have a wonderful Easter with all your loved ones - even though it may only be virtually. laugh

Parents and carers - I imagine you probably have a tradition in how you celebrate and enjoy the Easter break. If you would like to add some more activities, I have included some resources in the Easter folder on this website.

Just a notice on any Mathletics tests you want to do - I do have to reset it for any child that wants to do it again.

Also, I've provided a link to Purple Mash. This is a new resource, which covers primary school subjects and children can login with their Mathletics login.

However you celebrate, have a lovely and peaceful time and I'll write again on Monday the 20th of April 2020.

With much love,

Miss Ilenda

03.04.2020

Good morning Year 4,

Friday is when you finish off your activities, doing as much as you can, so that you can relax at the weekend. You should be proud of all the work and effort shown this week! So power on - you can do it! smiley Have fun with the sound activity today.

At the end of the day, I will write again to give you some ideas for things to do during Easter.

Have a lovely day.

With love,

Miss Ilenda

02.04.2020

Good morning Year 4,

Easter Break is around the corner! smiley

When you are ready to complete the reading task, you can have a look at the booklet 'Skills Bookmark KS2 (Reading)' to help you with the different types of questions you need to answer.

We have finished the work on fractions for this year, however if you would like to practice some more during the Easter Break, you can re-do the questions on Mathletics - new questions are provided each time but about the same concept, including the test.  If you encounter issues with this, have a go at the White Rose questions on fractions. This can be found in the general maths resources folder, but I have also attached it after this message.

You might get a chance to make those basic phones for science today - enjoy listening to all those different vibrations.

With love,

Miss Ilenda

01.04.2020

Good morning Year 4,

It is the first of April - no kidding - it really is! laugh

For the English task today, remember to create similes related to the story 'The Shepherd and the Stone.' It will help you with Thursday's task. If you are stuck, have a look at the additional examples attached in the Week 2 folder.

Have fun.

With love,

Miss Ilenda

31.03.2020

Good morning year 4,

I hope you have had a good start to your week.

Have you been exercising? wink

Remember that your tasks this week are:

-1 Maths activity,

-the writing task from the story 'The Shepherd and the  Stone,'

-the science experiment with rice, to see sound,

-Times-Table Rock Stars,

-spelling and reading.

Always give yourself a break between your tasks.

Do you already know what you will treat yourself with?

Enjoy your day.

With love,

Miss Ilenda.

30.03.2020

Good morning Year 4,

Welcome to one more week before we start thinking about Easter.

I have added a new link for The Body Coach on Youtube. These videos are fun and quick exercise routines which  I have been enjoying every morning and you can too.

I do hope that you are making the most of the time you have with the family in your home and good luck for this week. smiley

With much love,

Miss Ilenda.
